The U.S. State Department has identified several overseas birth tourism networks that allegedly helped foreign nationals travel to the United States to give birth and secure U.S. citizenship for their children.

According to a report by The Daily Wire, U.S. embassies in West Africa, Europe, and North Africa uncovered schemes involving visa coaching, travel arrangements, and accommodations for expectant mothers. Officials reportedly revoked visas, imposed travel bans on some participants, and worked with local authorities to dismantle the operations.

One embassy in Europe identified more than 400 suspected cases dating back to 2024, while officials in North Africa revoked over 100 visas linked to alleged birth tourism activities.

The State Department said it is committed to protecting the integrity of U.S. citizenship and preventing abuse of the visa system. “A U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right,” officials stated.

The issue comes as legal challenges continue over President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship. The order remains tied up in court, with the Supreme Court expected to weigh in on the matter in the coming weeks.
