  • 1:00–3:00 AM (Liver): Linked to stress, anger, frustration, and emotional tension.

  • 5:00–7:00 AM (Large Intestine): Symbolizes release, cleansing, and preparing for a new day.

These interpretations are rooted in traditional philosophy and are not supported by scientific evidence. However, many people find them meaningful because they encourage self-awareness and reflection.

From a medical standpoint, frequent nighttime waking is more commonly connected to stress, anxiety, depression, sleep apnea, hormonal changes, physical discomfort, or lifestyle factors. Improving sleep often involves maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, limiting caffeine and alcohol, reducing screen time before bed, exercising regularly, and managing stress.

Ultimately, waking during the night is usually a normal biological occurrence rather than a sign of a serious problem. While traditional beliefs may offer symbolic insight, persistent or disruptive sleep issues should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. The experience can also serve as a reminder to pay attention to both physical health and emotional well-being.
