A smiling selfie taken during a hiking trip in northern Italy became the final photograph Andrea Mazzetto and his girlfriend, Sara Bragante, would ever share together.
The couple had been exploring the scenic Altar Knotto rock formation near Rotzo when tragedy struck. According to reports, Andrea accidentally dropped his cellphone near a cliff edge and fell nearly 650 feet while attempting to retrieve it.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Andrea was pronounced dead.
Just moments before the accident, the couple had taken a smiling selfie, unaware it would become their last photo together. Sara later shared the image online, calling it their “cursed last photo” and paying tribute to Andrea with the words, “You will always be with me, my little bear.”
Years later, the heartbreaking image continues to remind people around the world how suddenly life can change and how important it is to cherish every moment with loved ones.
